Lima, February 27, 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, issued Secretary General Resolution No. 0076-2026-RE, declaring the 27th World Mining Congress (WMC), to be held in Lima from June 24 to 26, 2026, an event of international interest.

The official resolution underscores the strategic relevance of this global gathering for positioning Peru within the international mining industry, as well as its contribution to strengthening international cooperation, attracting investment, and fostering the exchange of specialized knowledge.

According to the official communication published on February 20, “the specialized presentations will help position the country in global forums (…) Consequently, its execution is significant due to its impact on the promotion and dissemination of mining development within the national territory, which is consistent with the institutional strategic objectives of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.”

The document further emphasizes that the event “promotes Peru’s positioning as a benchmark in modern, responsible, and sustainable mining, aligned with the challenges of the global energy transition, the security of supply of critical minerals, and sustainable economic development.”

Relevance of the WMC

The World Mining Congress, regarded as one of the world’s leading global mining forums, will bring together in Peru government authorities, business leaders, academics, and experts from various countries to address the sector’s main challenges and opportunities.

For the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers, organizer of this edition, the resolution represents high-level institutional backing that reaffirms the importance of the event and the Peruvian State’s commitment to its successful delivery.

Hosting this large-scale gathering positions Peru as a hub for discussions on priority agendas shaping the future of mining, marking a milestone for the industry and for the international mining community.
