Message from the President of the Event
Welcome to WMC 2026
The world is undergoing a critical transformation, driven by the need to build a green economy that ensures the well-being of future generations. In this process, nature becomes the central focus—not only because we must protect it, but also because it provides us with the very resources we need to preserve it.
Among these resources, minerals play a fundamental role. They enable the development of the technologies, infrastructure, and tools essential for building a sustainable future. Without minerals, there is no energy transition, no clean mobility, and no digital advancement.
However, harnessing mineral resources responsibly comes with significant challenges—ones we must face as individuals, organizations, and nations. In this context, the World Mining Congress – WMC 2026 – stands as a landmark gathering for dialogue, reflection, and collective action.
In this edition, we promote a vision of “Mining for the Future”, built on three key pillars: technology, trust, and transformation.
– Technology, driven by the talent of our professionals, expressed through constant innovation, and enabled by sustainable investments.
– Trust, fostered through strategic partnerships, open dialogue, and a deep commitment to our communities and environment.
– Transformation, understood as a continuous process of improvement in which we apply sustainable solutions to the challenges we face as an industry and as a global society.
We warmly welcome you to WMC 2026, to be held in Peru, a country with a rich mining tradition and remarkable cultural heritage. Here, every participant will enjoy a unique professional experience, enriched by knowledge, culture, folklore, gastronomy, art, and breathtaking landscapes.
May this gathering inspire us to continue building a mining industry that truly serves a better world.

About the host IIMP
The Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP, by its initials in Spanish) is a private, non-profit organization founded on December 6, 1943, with the goal of bringing together, representing, and strengthening professionals associated with the country’s mining industry. For more than 80 years, the IIMP has established itself as one of Peru’s most recognized technical institutions for its commitment to professional excellence, knowledge development, and the promotion of responsible mining.
The IIMP brings together mining engineers, geologists, metallurgists, and other industry professionals, fostering technical and scientific exchange, continuous development, and the dissemination of best practices. Its work is aimed at contributing to the sustainable progress of Peruvian mining and positioning Peru as a global leader in the production and exploration of mineral resources.
To achieve these objectives, the IIMP carries out a variety of activities, among which PERUMIN stands out — the leading mining convention in Latin America and one of the most important in the world — as well as the International Meeting of Prospectors and Explorers – proEXPLO, the largest mining exploration event in South America. These are complemented by a range of training courses, as well as research and publications that contribute to advancing knowledge about the mining industry.
