Peru will host the prestigious global mining summit for the second time in history. The deadline for technical submissions is August 31, 2025.
Lima, August 14, 2025. The World Mining Congress 2026 (WMC 2026), one of the most important events in the global mining calendar, has officially opened its Call for Technical Papers, inviting professionals, researchers, academics, and innovators from around the world to submit their proposals. The event Mining for the Future: Technology, Trust, and Transformation, will take place in Lima, Peru, from June 24 to 26, 2026.
The technical program will cover a wide range of 16 thematic areas that reflect the most pressing challenges and innovations facing the mining industry today. These include:

- Health, Safety and Well-being
- Autonomous Systems and Robotics
- Geoscience and Next-Gen Exploration

- Sustainable Infrastructure and Mine Design
Dr. Doris Hiam-Gálvez, Chair of the WMC 2026 Program, emphasized the importance of this call in highlighting innovations designed to promote a sustainable and modern approach to mining.
“WMC 2026 will be a global platform to showcase groundbreaking work and promote collective thinking about the future of mining. We encourage professionals and researchers from all regions to submit your abstract, bring your voice to the change. You can contribute with discussion and generating solutions for the industry”, said Dr. Hiam-Gálvez.
WMC 2026, organized by the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru, will be held for the second time in the Andean country and is expected to bring together participants from 50 countries around the world, including representatives from governments, industry, academia, civil society, and multilateral organizations.
